We have been here before, so what did we learn from the last Trump Presidency? And how is that informing what we do now?
During the first Trump presidency we saw the rise of Christian white nationalism take center stage in the United States once again.
It was August 11-12, 2017 in Charlottesville, Virginia- the Unite the Right Rally that led to one death and numerous injuries. Led by white supremacists who came together with tiki torches in hand shouting "YOU WILL NOT REPLACE US." The shadows of the past making their way to the light yet again.

We have been here before and now we are here again.
Again...and again...and again....
In response public intellectuals went to work to ensure the public understood...we have been here before and this pattern was concerning. To let it slide, to not see it for what it was, would mean the door was opening once more for overt white supremacy to become normalized.
This brought in the #syllabi movement which were shared on online (Twitter being a main place), through blog posts from various societies like the African American Intellectual Historical Society, and amongst one another to use in courses to help push back against this ideology.
